Albert Bichot Les Charmes 2023
For superb, great-value Burgundy, head to the
Mâcon and this 4th-generation estate. Grapes
from 30-year-old vines, a slow fermentation
and lees stirring result in a rich, creamy style
with impressive complexity. Serve lightly
chilled to fully appreciate its glorious richness.
Lugny’s Les Charmes is one of the finest
vineyard spots in Mâcon. This exquisite
release is from a renowned family producer
whose IWC Winemaker of the Year, Albéric
Bichot, has crafted a pristine, creamy,
mineral-fresh white Burgundy.

Montmorin 2022
Mouthfilling rarity from a tiny appellation, a
portion of which belongs to Olivier Giroux at
this 7th-generation family estate. Fermented
and part oak aged, this has creamy, honeyed
peach with spicy length and rich texture.
From a Côte Chalonnaise village whose wines
are “light, fresh, tasty and good value” (Hugh
Johnson) and an iconic Puligny-Montrachet
producer, this oak-fermented 2022 has citrus
and stone fruit flavours and nutty complexity.

Premier Cru Combettes shares a
border with Ampeau’s Meursault
vineyards, so the wine has a richness
not normally found in Puligny, coupled
with arrow-like freshness. A real gem plucked
from the domaine’s collection of back vintages.
