GRAN RESERVA FROM
RIOJA’S GOLDEN KING
Grand Cru treatment takes Rioja’s
greatest style to new heights of quality
Jean-Marc Sauboua trained at iconic Château

bodega with 300 Golds in just over a decade.

But there’s one thing he’s yet to do, until now ...
release a Gran Reserva Rioja under his own
Altos label. As you’ll know, this is Rioja’s top
classification, a wine that’s aged for a minimum
of five years, with at least two of those in barrel.
There are good reasons for the wait. Firstly,
it takes time to build sufficient stocks of aged
wines. And creating a perfect barrel hall doesn’t
happen overnight. But most importantly, J-M
wanted to make it like a Grand Cru claret, with
best-of-the-best treatment from start to finish.
So the wine is made from grapes grown on very
high vineyard spots (the winery’s ‘Bodega in the
Clouds’ nickname is well earned). This makes for
a pure, fresh Gran Reserva that’s a world away
from the old-fashioned styles of some cellars.
And, true to J-M’s Bordeaux roots, he’s given this
real Grand Cru cellaring, ageing the wine in finest
French oak barriques, regularly topped up to keep
the wine pristine while it matured.
Expect mature hints alongside spiced raspberry
and plum flavours underpinned by a layer of
creamy oak. The freshest, most vibrant Gran
Reserva you’ll have the joy of tasting and terrific
value with today’s launch offer saving of 30%.
