We’ve said it before
and we’ll say it again ...
Portugal is the world’s No.1
spot for great-value wines.
Like this vibrantly fresh white
from a super-impressive
winery – once home to the
King of Portugal’s falconry.
Matt Nixson of The Daily
Express calls it: “rich and juicy
with notes of vanilla, peach
and spice”. But because it’s off
the beaten track, and made
with unusual grapes (mostly
Fernão Pires), it’s a snip at
just £14.99 £9.99 a bottle.
Until relatively
recently, Italy’s Soave
wasn’t taken seriously. But
now“quality has soared” and
“crisp, almond-blossom-scented
Soave looks set to be the next
summer swig” (The Times).
Winemaker JeanMarc Sauboua had one aim
with Sans Terre. To make the
best Sauvignon Blanc possible
– but at an affordable price.
Luckily, prices haven’t risen
along with the quality – yet.
Colle Marianna is an absolute
steal – made by winemaker
Antonio Fattori, whose “Soave
expressions are true standouts”
(Wine Advocate). Savour its
pear, apricot and wild herb
notes for less – while you can.
He picked grapes from
France’s three top Sauvignon
regions, each bringing a little
magic to the wine. Richness
from Bordeaux, aromatics
from south-west France and
freshness from the Loire. You
could easily mistake it for one
of the Loire’s most famous
Sauvignons. And yet it’s yours
for just £13.99 £9.99 a bottle.
