CELEBRATE
A SPANISH
TREASURE
New to our Kew Series range …
Spain’s rare Mencía red. Save £2
a bottle with today’s launch price
We launched the Kew Series wines with
a clear mission. To champion rare and
indigenous grape varieties the world over.
You see, with big-name supermarkets
focusing on just a handful of famous ones, it’s
easy to ignore treasured varieties like Mencía.
And treasure it is. Jancis Robinson MW
lists Mencía among her favourite grapes
and praises its “appealing aromatic,
flirtatious quality”.
The best Mencía reds, like this exciting new
release, come from the ancient vineyards of
Bierzo in northern Spain. Pilgrims would have
enjoyed wines from the same vineyards on
the Camino de Santiago in the Middle Ages.
NEW
Kew Gardens Mencía is medium-bodied with
lovely intensity and supple red fruit. You
might also notice some minerality from the
region’s slate-rich soils. If you love Burgundy
or top-flight Beaujolais, then it’s a must try.
You’ll be helping the growers of this precious
indigenous variety too. Part of the proceeds
of every sale go to support the vital work of
the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
